ABSTRACT

Learning histories may help to contribute to a deeper understanding of learning processes in organizational practices, and the vital mechanisms enabling the work arena to become a fruitful learning arena. Learning histories as a method was developed at MIT and had as a point of departure the perspective that learning processes are difficult to document quantitatively. Learning histories is a technique to document learning and facilitate learning processes in organizations. In the learning histories approach the author's distinguish between assessment, measurement and evaluation. This is done to liberate organizational members from the increasing plague of predetermined measurement and evaluation regimes. The production of learning histories is done to illustrate how, why and when learning takes place in practice in organizations. A learning history is meant for a wider audience than those who contribute with experiences to the stories.
