ABSTRACT

This chapter examines international cooperation in relation to the policing of digital crime, together with how different nations each organise their formal response to cybercrime and other digital crimes. In terms of the latter the emphasis is on European and UK organisational responses, but reference is also made to other jurisdictions. The investigation involved the MPS Computer Crime Unit together with German, Norwegian, Australian, Korean, Brazilian and Canadian Police agencies. Interpol has 190 member countries worldwide. Its proclaimed mission is to prevent and fight against crime by encouraging international cooperation between law enforcement agencies through offering technical and operational support. Europol is the European law enforcement agency, and is responsible for assisting member states of the European Union with countering serious international organised crime and terrorism. The Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence (CCDCOE) is based in Tallinn, the capital of Estonia and has support from Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Slovakia, Spain, the Netherlands and the US.
