ABSTRACT

This chapter outlines the theoretical concepts and explains the positive and negative effects of operating a large company in the local labour market as well as selected differentiating factors. It presents the comparative characteristics of non-metropolitan rural areas (nMRA) and the examined companies. Subsequently, the impact dimensions from the examined companies on the local labour market is analysed within the scope of their participation in the local employment structure, level of satisfaction regarding the needs of the personnel of a large employer in the local labour market, place of residence of employees in relation to positions occupied and wages levels in large enterprises (LE). The competitive advantage of such companies in the local market allows for the recruitment of the best and most qualified employees. However, some non-Polish researchers emphasise the economic role of a cheap labour force as the main factor which attracts investors to Poland.
