ABSTRACT
The main hypothesis of this chapter is that there is a symbiotic relation between the SVP’s electoral and policy success, which also determine success in officeseeking. The electoral loss experienced over the last couple of years is attributable to changes in South Tyrol’s political system from a dissociative to an associative one, characterized by gradually overcoming ethnic separation (Pallaver 2014). However, this change did not affect the party’s success rate in the other two areas.
