Introduction When, at the end of February 2011, the official decision was made in Tunisia to write a new constitution, thus fulfilling one of the greatest desires of all those who wished to turn the page from the old regime, one of the major questions was how to know to what extent the secular Tunisian model, or even what was called “Tunisian modernism”, 1 could adapt to a new democratic context.
