ABSTRACT

The use of valorisation enables division of an area into regions with similar conditions for activities such as tourism. Protected areas, green space, forests and natural monuments play an important role in valorisation. It is important that natural resources in cities and metropolitan areas should be appropriately inventoried and used for tourism purposes. Natural resources are all the elements of the natural environment which can be found in a particular area. Local natural resources provide the conditions for tourism, recreation and business activity. The natural environment within metropolitan areas is characterised by forest, parks and lakes and they have protected zones and areas of natural value. The degree of development of tourism is an example of a synthetic trait. The communes located in the southwest of the metropolitan areas of Wroclaw and Poznan and the communes located in the northeast of the Szczecin metropolitan area are characterised by better natural environmental conditions for the development of tourism.
