ABSTRACT

Agritourism has been developing in Poland for nearly 25 years. The distribution of agritourism in the geographical space of Poland is determined by various factors. In Switzerland agritourism farms are situated close to urban centres, within the zone of travel time of ‘up to one hour’, whereas in Poland they are situated more than one hour away. Agritourism is the subject of interest for Local Action Groups. There are 20 such groups in the voivodeship and their activity covers nearly the entire region. An action group usually consists of a few owners of agritourism facilities. The main forces which are responsible for the form of agritourism offers and their diversification in the metropolitan area are the ejective and attractive forces. Agritourism is a branch of the economy where success depends on cooperation between different entities, both those related to tourism and those which are not directly related.
