ABSTRACT
In Chapter 2, I cited speeches by presidents of the American Sociological Association in the middle of the twentieth century and by former presidents of the International Sociological Association who were asked to express their ideas in the second decade of the twenty-first century. As leaders addressing their constituents on significant occasions, they offer their visions of what doing sociology is and how it should be / will be developing.
