ABSTRACT

This chapter illustrates the characteristics of the indicators identified for the five Territorial Integrated Evaluation (TIE) themes, and states that the process of formulation of the matrix was conducted in the light of the prospective for territorial renewal, enhancement and development outlined in the Provincial Territorial Plan (PTP). It outlines the methodological process that based on the calculation of the indicators, to evaluate the overall performance of the themes for each territorial context. The Autonomous Province of Trento (APT) aimed to give life to a new course of Provincial policies that would harmonize the needs of territorial development with the needs for the conservation of landscape values. TIE treats the evaluation of the territorial opportunities for retail development as an issue that is strictly interwoven with the evaluation of the dynamics of the landscape and the local economy. TIE integrates landscape into policies of retail planning both in the analytical-evaluative phase and the phase of designing scenarios.
