ABSTRACT

This chapter compiles and discusses a list of non-market valuation tools for sustainable supply chain performance measurement. It provides researchers and practitioners with ATOolbox from which they can select the appropriate measurement tool for the respective stakeholder. The chapter is organized into two parts. In the first part, the state of the art in measuring the sustainability of global supply chains is reviewed. Next, a framework delineating the structure of green supply chain management is presented along with a suggestion that sustainable performance measurement should follow the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PCDA) paradigm. In the second part of the chapter, market and non-market methods of valuation are presented. Focusing on non-market approaches, an extensive list of value concepts that can be used for environmental benefit measurement is presented. The traditional performance measurement structure of the supply chain must be extended and include mechanisms for product recovery and the establishment and implementation of new performance measurement systems.
