ABSTRACT
This chapter examines and compares state and international regulation and recognition of surrogacy, including international/cross-border surrogacy, the issue of whether an international instrument for the regulation and recognition of international surrogacy is needed, altruistic versus commercial surrogacy, and the human rights implications of surrogacy for children, surrogate mothers and intended parents.
