ABSTRACT

International parental child abduction is a current and relevant topic due to the considerable increase in the number of cases. There are several reasons to implement an alternative dispute resolution mechanism such as mediation in cases relating to these cross-border disputes. This subject has numerous challenges, but this chapter focuses on aspects such as the latest approaches or thoughts about recognition and enforcement of cross-border agreements in family matters involving children and the collaborative process on international family mediation. The chapter also includes comments on the principles that apply in international family mediation processes.
