ABSTRACT

The role of science in policy-making – negative and positive – has become a central ingredient in New Public Management (NPM). Depending on one’s theoretical point of departure, the scientization of public administration can be interpreted as a process that enhances the efficiency of decision-making, consolidates the depoliticization of entire policy areas, and helps politicians establish an appearance of trustworthy service-providers in the eyes of citizens.
