ABSTRACT
On 17 February 2008 the declaration of independence of Kosovo was adopted by the members of the Assembly of Kosovo. Major Western countries, such as the US, France, the UK and Germany, immediately recognized the Republic of Kosovo. By the end of November 2010 Kosovo had been recognized by 72 UN member states, and in June 2009 Kosovo became a member of the World Bank group and the IMF. Although the international community is still divided on the issue of Kosovo, it is obvious that Kosovo Albanians are one of the most successful among the secessionist groups or nations.
