The purpose of this chapter is to examine the status quo of media accountability in Greece by engaging in a study of the available instruments for holding the media to account, with due consideration given to the potential for new technologies and media education and training to promote responsible journalism. The analysis shows that MAIs in Greece appear to be slowly diversifying. This is the case despite the fact that traditional accountability tools are missing or show important shortcomings. However, it is too early to detect any emerging accountability culture online or to point to any systematic media scrutiny activity on behalf of media users.
