ABSTRACT

This chapter illustrates that the relationship between professors and the press. Newspapers and websites vie to be able to explain the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in 150 words or perhaps a word-cloud. Scientific falsehoods are given equal billing with proven science in many publications. While traditional media may be challenged, new media online publications are thriving. Further, the specialized nature of web publications means many more voices can be heard much like cable television. Most colleges create web pages for every faculty member, organized by department, and these websites have a range of practical purposes. Senators try to eliminate federal support for political science. While traditional media may be challenged, new media online publications are thriving. Many colleges and universities have smart, hard-working people in their public relations offices, many of them former journalists who have insights into the way the local and national press work.
