ABSTRACT
A public service obligation (PSO) in EU law is an obligation that is imposed on an undertaking to take care of certain services of general interest. An example of such a PSO is the obligation that is imposed on energy companies to provide electricity and gas to all household customers that wish to enter into a contract, regardless of where they live within the particular geographical area.
