ABSTRACT

Th e Qwenchy dialogue began. Daniels opened the meeting and welcomed all country HR representatives. He then turned the meeting direction over to Ms. Jones, the Director of HR Operations and left to attend another meeting. She started by suggesting:

Obviously, I am very satisfi ed with Mr. Daniels’ proposal. I want the group to reach agreement, but I am quite sure that Mr. Daniels has outlined an ideal system. In other words, I would be quite disappointed if you, my dear colleagues rejected the idea of a universal and standardized system. I believe you would be well advised to stick to the proposal. In the U.S. it works so well; why shouldn’t it work in other countries? Only if you come up with reasonable arguments will I be open to compromise. I hereby open the meeting and hope we have fruitful discussions. Do you have any questions?
