ABSTRACT

This chapter is a multifaceted chapter. The entire information technology infrastructure within, and now outside (such as cloud computing), a company needs to be continuously monitored and evaluated. The technology infrastructure requires more than just storage space, it needs significant computer equipment to gather, process, and analyze the data necessary for sport analytic decision-making. A good way to think about this is whether or not a person wants to upgrade their current smart phone to a new smart phone. Their phone might be working fine or it could be that there are now faster microprocessors or better screens. It could also be that the phone was dropped and the screen was shattered. One issue is whether or not to update the phone. The other issue is all the information on the phone. Will any data or photos transfer? What about the tap to pay feature or any other applications that might contain sensitive information such as credit card numbers. The decision to switch phones becomes an issue of both equipment and data – similar to the multifaceted way to examine information technology for a company.
