ABSTRACT

So far throughout this book we have provided significant examples of how analytics are affecting all facets of a sport organization. The reader should know at this point that the numbers can answer numerous questions and hopefully solve numerous problems. The numbers do not just magically arrive on an executive’s desk in a beautiful package. While some managers can ask data-oriented employees to crunch some numbers, that is the weak way to apply analytics. The proper way is to engage these data-oriented employees and work together to identify problems, review prior conclusions, select the appropriate variable, examine data collection opportunities, analyze the data, and then present the findings. This chapter will explore this process and how to apply everything covered in this book to be an effective data user.
