ABSTRACT
Sometimes behavior is considered to have virtually no necessary structure of its own, because its essential characteristic is its responsiveness to environmental contingencies like reinforcement and its stimulus controls. In that case, the structure of behavior should be the structure of the environmental contingencies that operate on it, and its only units should be the units that characterize the construction of contingencies in the environment.
