ABSTRACT

This chapter explores a range of collaborations that all secondary school teachers have to develop; and some collaboration that are specific to the role of a secondary class music teacher. The chapter discusses some models of collaboration; and establishes some conditions that are essential for effective collaborations to flourish. It considers a range of collaborations that all secondary school teachers have to develop and some that are specific to the role of a secondary class music teacher. Collaborations may involve the challenging of existing hierarchies and developing new ways of working, and some models of collaboration and conditions for effective collaborations proposed in this chapter. All secondary school teachers have to develop: collaborations with other colleagues, within and beyond a department/faculty; and cross-curricular collaborations within the school. And extra-curricular collaborations within and beyond the school; collaborations with feeder primary schools; and collaborations with students.
