ABSTRACT

This book is about learning how to teach music. However, it is important that we do not see music as an isolated school subject, but its unique contribution to the wider education of our young people. By exploring the relationships and connections between music and other disciplines, we can enhance the teaching of music itself, as well as develop visions for how the whole school curriculum can be organised and taught. This concluding chapter encourages you to look beyond music by focusing on the long-standing debate surrounding the relationship between music, the arts and other subjects in the curriculum. The chapter also challenges you to draw on learning from previous chapters and your current experience as a music teacher.
