ABSTRACT

This chapter describes the use of innovative learning technologies in Qatar to prepare students and workers to contribute to Qatar's National Vision and strategic goals. Qatar aims to develop a world-class educational system that encourages analytical and critical thinking, creativity and innovation in preparation for a complex twenty-first-century workplace. Qatar's residents rank highly in their perception of access to basic services, information and communication technologies (ICT) use and government efficiency and internet access in schools out of 148 countries in the World Economic Forum's Global Information Technology Report. The Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (ictQATAR) is currently implementing digital literacy and IT skills programmes. Qatar is using its 2030 National Vision to focus innovations in education and research activities. The chapter explores a wide range of innovative educational initiatives that exploit emerging technologies.
