ABSTRACT

Despite intense media coverage and recurring political controversy surrounding megaprojects, citizens, politicians and managers remain insufficiently equipped to understand and to mitigate the risks, uncertainties and mistakes in judgement marring ex ante evaluations of megaprojects. These uncertainties are decried and feared due to the extent of their damaging effects and impacts on society (social, environmental, economic, political impacts, etc.) when they have not been sufficiently integrated during initial planning.
