ABSTRACT

The chapters in this volume address this fundamental question from two distinct angles. The first part consists of critical empirical analyses of current megaproject evaluation practices, while the chapters in the second part of the book explore possibilities for improved methodologies for the socioeconomic evaluation of megaprojects. Instead of seeking to capture the full richness of the insights provided by the different chapters, we shall here highlight some recurring themes of this volume, as well as a number of relatively neglected issues.
