A turbulent recent history has wrought radical changes to the political system of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Currently aspiring to enter the European Union, the case is an intriguing one for political science and political communication research. The political, social, and economic contexts surrounding Bosnia and Herzegovina’s democratic transition and the resulting complex power-sharing mechanisms have yielded a specic form of populist communication called ethnic populism (Laclau, 2005). This chapter will strive to examine and present relevant research and conclusions on the phenomenon of populism and on the populist communication that is employed by political parties and media in the country.
