Note to ‘The Thorn'

An expansion of the account of ‘The Thorn’ in the Advertisement to Lyrical Ballads (1798). The date of composition is unknown; its proximity to the Preface to Lyrical Ballads (1800) in the Yale manuscript (see headnote to No. 3 above) suggests that it may be contemporary with the Preface (late summer 1800).
