ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the key concepts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book. The book attempts to articulate the view that experience is a category of ethical discourse that informs judgements about whether policies and perspectives are genuinely supportive of and contribute to the flourishing of individuals in our communities. It shows that across the disciplines there is scope to discuss complex issues such as faith and morals; children and families; government policy and education. The book also shows how different narratives help to motivate and to provide the framework for people to interpret what is going on in a situation and to decide ‘why?’ they should act. Reflections on social justice need narratives in order to ensure that the issues for which individuals are being encouraged to speak out about make sense to them in their community and in their interpretive frameworks.
