ABSTRACT

The study consisted of a cross-sectional survey that examined how NASW chapters engage members in policy practice. The survey was designed and implemented electronically using Survey Monkey. The sample for the study included 52 chapters of NASW (all 50 states, New York City, and Washington, DC). Permission to conduct the study was obtained through NASW and NASW assisted with the dissemination of the survey to chapter contacts. The items in the survey focused on three main topics: (1) how chapters engage social work professionals in policy practice; (2) how chapters engage social work students in policy practice; and (3) how chapters use legislative advocacy days as a tool to build policy practice skills. Data from the surveys were exported to SPSS for descriptive analysis.
