As countries around the world have witnessed decreasing social protections, global leaders have called on social workers to lead and/or partner in social policy advocacy efforts. In many European countries, austerity measures have begun to erode the social protection measures that have been critical to efforts of social equality (Hammarberg as cited in de Chenu, 2012).
