ABSTRACT

The specific characteristics and means by which some games have spread currently allow both Italian and immigrant women to come into contact with gambling opportunities in their day-to-day lives. This is illustrated by the nature of female gambling in Italy in terms of demographics and the actual choice of games and escalation of the phenomenon. Female patients affected by Parkinson's require particular attention: not only is it necessary to understand and treat the neurobiological complexity, but the psychological dimension concerning experiences with death and the deterioration of the individual's physical, sexual and emotive integrity has to be explored. The work focuses on the dysfunctions and suffering within extended family system presented within the group, analysing the payoff for individual and family of symptom itself and exploring together alternative means of reorientating and restoring balance to system. The conclusions of this initial descriptive/qualitative work will give grounds for embarking on further evidence-based research, focusing on request for treatment, retention and outcome.
