Who is the client in this scenario? Is it Matt, all the children, or the family unit? What impact will Matt’s diagnosis have on him? How was he diagnosed? How does couple and family therapy work successfully with the parent, the child, and the school system? What does the couple and family therapist do regarding the issue of empirical evidence in the treatment of ADHD, conflicting values, and medication and the treatment of Matt’s ADHD? If the couple and family therapist focuses on Matt, what happens to the needs of the other children or of the family unit? Are they to be assessed as well?
