ABSTRACT
(De Brassier is a renegade aristocrat who becomes leader of a mass political movement purely in order to spite his own class. In order to consolidate his power, he calls a Convention in which other leaders are accused of treachery, and the movement is slyly encouraged to undertake an uprising which De Brassier betrays to the authorities.)
