ABSTRACT

Four fairly interesting things can be said about the psychological processes involved in writing: (1) some highly articulate individuals are conspicuously incapable of writing at all; (2) procrastination is the one prevailing symptom that tends to affect us all; (3) there is a mild taboo surrounding the topic that cannot altogether be explained by invoking rational reasons of esteem or competition; and (4) those who do enjoy writing do so in large measure because it helps them to think.
