ABSTRACT
Savio was prevented from returning to graduate work at UC, instead teaching as an untenured lecturer at Sonoma State until his death. Meanwhile, the Reagan and Nixon presidencies had risen on a platform of culture wars and law and order that required decades, and a twenty-first-century economic depression, to reverse.
