The Internet as a New Opportunity for Transnational Protest Groups

An allegedly new wave of transnational protest groups has emerged during the last years and gradually gained high visibility. These groups were often labeled in various languages as “the antiglobalization movement.” More recently, however, and justifiably so, both the activists and close observers in the English-speaking world prefer labels such as “global solidarity movements” or “global justice movements.” ¹
