ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts covered in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book is written for practitioners in the field of forensic psychopathology as well as for master's degree students studying forensic psychopathology themes. It explores the relation between psychopathology and crime and aims to be an inspiration for researchers and clinicians to promote research and practice in this area. The book includes, first, the development of antisocial behaviour; second, psychopathology and crime; and third, risk assessment and rehabilitation. Several risk factors of antisocial behaviour will be identified, putting certain children at risk for embarking on a criminal career. Accordingly, De Wachter described how certain historical developments relate to an increase in certain psychopathology diagnoses. It suggests that certain biological markers may be equivalent for both externalising and internalising psychopathology.
