ABSTRACT
This chapter presents the definition of corruption resistance, its scope and origins in the literature. A framework for corruption resistance is then explained and illustrated by applying it to a case study of NGOs working in India. The chapter explores what a multi-level framework might look like and what range of relevant variables should be incorporated into such a framework in order for research to be conducted to identify internal dynamics and causal pathways of corruption resistance in public sector organisations. It examines three contemporary challenges for corruption resistance faced by public sector organisations in India. The chapter examines the wide variety of situations and contexts that corruption can occur in. It explores how to conceptualise it as a process, and third is to identify approaches for public sector organisations that go beyond a simple checklist. Progress towards meeting these challenges has been hampered by the elusiveness of a widely accepted definition of public sector.
