ABSTRACT

Sexual addiction is not always a standalone issue. In fact, a significant percentage of sex addicts also find themselves having to deal with cross and/or co-occurring addictions. Typically, cross and co-addicted people move seamlessly from one substance to another, from one behaviour to another, and even from substances to behaviours and behaviours to substances. The author of this chapter shows that cross and co-occurring addictions are relatively common in sex addicts. He explores their causes and assesses their implications for the development of treatment strategies.
