ABSTRACT

The authors of this chapter argue that men who have sex with men (MSM) are more likely to have difficultieswith addictive sexual behaviour than their heterosexual peers. In this chapter, characteristics of sexual addiction among MSM are delineated, and culturally specific factors that contribute to the aetiology of sexual addiction among MSM are discussed. The emotional, physical and interpersonal consequences commonly experienced by sexually addicted MSM are also presented. Finally, gay-affirmative treatment of sexual addiction is described.
