ABSTRACT

When working with adolescents who have problematic sexual behaviours, there is limited information to guide practice. Research specific to the experience and treatment of adolescents with PSB, especially for those with disabilities, is extremely limited. However, rates of PSB among adolescents with and without disabilities are increasing. The authors of this chapter argue that the utilisation of a holistic approach is critical when working with adolescents. Additionally, the utilisation of an experiential, strength-based model provides a flexible, supportive and easily individualised approach for treatment. This chapter outlines the state of the research, as well as recommended treatment considerations and approaches.
