ABSTRACT

This chapter outlines and evaluates the changes in viewing and treating partners and families of sex addicts over the last 10 years. It includes a discussion of changing notions of co-dependency, attachment styles and the impact of trauma. Outcomes and helpful interventions from a partner programme in the UK are explored, and there is a discussion of generational scripts and differing family systems. Optimum support and treatment of partners and families is considered from current approaches and methodologies.
