ABSTRACT
‘Green technology’ includes equipment, processes and techniques that reduce the burden humans impose upon the natural environment. Yet establishing what is to count as green technology, and the role such technologies can play in addressing global environmental problems, remain hotly contested. This is because decisions about appropriate technology cannot be defined in a timeless, universal way. Ultimately, the notion of green technology raises profound questions about the relationship between humans and the non-human natural world.
