ABSTRACT
The concept of environmental security brings together knowledge and practices concerned with security with those concerned with environmental change. It highlights the challenge of maintaining peace and prosperity through the Anthropocene, and concerns issues such as the risks environmental change poses to nation states and to peace, as well as they environmental impacts caused by military activities. More recent scholarship has focussed on the ways in which shared environmental challenges can be a basis for cooperation among parties.
