ABSTRACT

Surveying the activist origins of Ecofeminism around the world, this chapter describes Ecofeminist philosophy and its contributions to understanding the root causes and trans-species effects of climate change. Conceptual tools from ecofeminism have influenced the development of contemporary theories such as post-humanism, critical animal studies, material feminisms, ecocriticism, queer ecologies, as well as feminist perspectives on citizenship, democracy, and economics. Around the world, women are on the frontlines of climate justice crises as well and climate justice solutions, and Ecofeminism continues to be developed.
