ABSTRACT

This chapter outlines the interdisciplinary framework known as queer ecology, which considers how sexual and environmental issues intersect. The chapter begins with an account of the framework’s recent development and a summary of the major insights offered by queer ecology scholars. It then surveys the debates within and critiques of the framework, and, finally, speculates on possible new directions for queer ecology scholarship. The chapter will be of particular interest to environmental humanities scholars and to STEM researchers concerned with issues of gender, sexuality, and reproduction.
