ABSTRACT

The World Bank reported that the public accountancy profession in Cambodia is at an early stage of development. The Kampuchea Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Auditors (KICPAA) to regulate the accountancy profession under the Ministry of Finance and Economy supervision. Cambodia has adopted the Code of Ethics for Professional Accountants and Auditors. The development of this KICPAA Code of Ethics was based on the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC's) International Code of Ethics for Professional Accountants. The KICPAA constitution classifies its membership into three categories: affiliated member, active member, and trainee member. The KICPAA's efforts to provide capacity building opportunities to improve the professional competence of accountants in the country is evident in the series of continuing professional development programs published on its website. World Bank stressed KICPAA's role to undertake "high-quality training programmes on practical implementation aspects of accounting and auditing standards and the code of ethics for professional accountants".
