ABSTRACT

This chapter presents findings from a research project which studied the extent to which a number of attributes of project quality could predict and consequently enhance client satisfaction within road construction projects in Rivers State, Nigeria. It begins by looking at the Nigerian construction industry in context to determine the opportunities and challenges therein. The chapter discusses the attributes of project quality, followed by measures of client satisfaction. It contributes to delivering on the CIB W118 research roadmap by looking at satisfaction from the perspective of Nigerian clients. The findings of the research suggest that construction stakeholders should focus their attention on the attributes of performance, reliability and especially aesthetics in order to deliver durable roads that meet the commuting and transportation needs as well as the satisfaction requirements of clients. The chapter provides the implication of client satisfaction regarding construction policies. It ends with a discussion of the findings and highlights some implications for future practice.
