ABSTRACT

This chapter examines three large areas, namely cyberbullying, cyber intimate partner abuse (IPA), and cyber identity theft, within the interpersonal cybercrime research area, as well as how these crimes occur in the digital realm, although cybercrime includes a broad array of crimes ranging across of spectrum of "property cybercrime" to "interpersonal cybercrime",. It discusses what actions constitute each type of cybercrime noted. The chapter describes the prevalence and risk factors associated with each type of cybercrime. Recent research has discovered that the negative consequences of experiencing cyberbullying may extend beyond victims' behavioral and psychological well-being. Most IPA perpetrators are male and the victims are typically female. However, the limited research on cyberIPA does indicate some gender variation among victims and offenders. Identity theft victims suffer a wide range of consequences. The victims of identity theft involving financial accounts often experience monetary losses or damaged credit.
